WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
This beautiful soul came into the restaurant the other night. And shared about a beautiful art form that is amazing from the bottom to the top.. If anyone is looking to get a one of a kind bag, weather it be for yourself or as a gift this season, please please please check out these bags, they are made by some beautiful ladies with amazing talents. no two bags are alike, and I guarantee the quality of the bag if by far worth every purchase. so this season truly help, all the bags sold go to the villages and helps their communities. even if you don't buy maybe share this and help spread the word.
I came across this wonderful business at the Shops of Willowbend in Plano, Texas. The bags and bracelets created are absolutely stunning and go towards an amazing cause of helping give back to the Wayuu people in Colombia. 110% recommend!!
I love my new bag purchased in my birthday last weekend at the Grapevine Wine Festival. I’m completely undone by this product, as an unrepentant purse-a-holic I can assure you I’m going to treasure this lovely work of art for years to come.
OUR ARTISANS
VISITING OUR ARTISANS
In our most recent experience visiting our Artisans in La Guajira, Colombia., my husband and I had the opportunity to spend a few days with the Wayuus. We learned more about their culture, combine with some legends, myths, stories and traditions. This tribe has inhabited the harsh environment of the La Guajira desert for centuries, living with the land and passing on traditions for generations.
WHO ARE THEY
Wayuu (also Wayu, Wayúu, Guajiro, Wahiro) is an Indigenous South American ethnic group of the Guajira Peninsula in northernmost part of Colombia and northwest Venezuela. The Wayuu language is part of the Maipuran (Arawak) language family. Wayuu indigenous people have their own language, the women are hard workers, very wise and disciplined with their skills and craftsmanship.
IN THE FIELD
Women in the Wayuu Tribe are the creative makers of the Wayuu Bags. The spider in the Wayuu culture is the Master Weaver, the one that teaches the art and represents the beginning of life. Each beautiful craft carries ancient traditions, ancestral wisdom and sacred geometry. The art of weaving has been around for a long time and is passed on from generation to generation.
